Sometimes the animal you rescue ends up rescuing you.

This is Hank's story. And in many ways, it's ours too.

If you've ever wondered why animal rescue is at the heart of a candle company, the answer is a little black puppy named Hank.

Hank came into my life at a time when I needed him more than I could have ever imagined.

He had come from a terrible situation and desperately needed emergency medical care. His future was uncertain, and I was terrified that this little puppy, who had already been through so much, might never get the chance to experience the life he deserved.

I remember making a promise to God.

If He would just save Hank, I would get my life together.

It was a promise that would change my life forever.

Hank survived.

And from that day forward, I have remained sober.

What I didn't realize at the time was that while I was praying for God to save Hank, He was using Hank to save me, too.

Since that day, Hank has been by my side. Through the long nights, the struggles, the victories, and the countless hours spent building Moosehead Candles, that black puppy has been right there with me.

He has never missed a day.

And I've never forgotten the promise I made.

ONE RESCUE. TWO LIVES CHANGED.

Hank taught me something I wish everyone could experience firsthand.

When you rescue an animal, you don't just change that animal's life. Sometimes, without even realizing it, you change your own.

You give them safety, love, food, and a place to call home.

And somehow, they give you something just as extraordinary in return.

They give you purpose, unconditional love, and sometimes a reason to become the person you were always meant to be.

That's what Hank did for me.

And that's where the dream of Moosehead Animal Rescue began.

WHAT STARTED SMALL BECAME SOMETHING MUCH BIGGER

When Stacey and I started building Moosehead Candles, my original goal was simple.

I wanted to make extra money so we could buy food, supplies, and other necessities for animal shelters.

Nothing extravagant. Just a way to help animals who needed someone in their corner.

But looking back, I believe God had a much bigger plan.

Maybe He wasn't just giving us an opportunity to donate a little money.

Maybe He was showing us how He could use the two of us to make a difference far beyond anything we had imagined.

What started as a small candle business has grown into a company serving thousands of customers.

And with that growth came an incredible realization.

We weren't just selling candles anymore. We had been given a platform to make a difference.

OUR PROMISE: 10% OF PROFITS, EVERY MONTH

At Moosehead Candles, giving back isn't something we're waiting to do when we're successful. It's something we do right now.

Every month, we dedicate 10% of our profits to helping animals in need. No matter how big or small that month's profits may be.

We randomly select animal rescue organizations across the country and purchase much-needed items directly from their Amazon Wish Lists.

Food, supplies, and everyday necessities that help these organizations continue their incredible work.

Some months we can give more than others. But the amount isn't what matters most.

What matters is keeping the promise.

And as Moosehead Candles grows, we hope the impact of that promise grows right along with it.

Because helping animals isn't something we do after running our business. It's one of the reasons we built this business in the first place.

MORE THAN DONATIONS. A CHANCE TO INSPIRE.

As important as our donations are, we've come to believe our greatest opportunity might be something even bigger.

Awareness.

Every package we send out carries more than a handcrafted candle or a bag of wax melts.

It carries a message about animals in need.

And every time someone opens one of those packages, we have another opportunity to plant a seed.

Maybe someone will consider adopting a shelter dog.

Maybe someone will volunteer at their local rescue.

Maybe someone will donate a bag of dog food.

Or maybe someone who has never thought about animal rescue will simply stop and think about it for the first time.

Sometimes all it takes is one little spark to change a life.

And if Moosehead Candles can create thousands of those little sparks, imagine what we can accomplish together.

OUR BIGGEST DREAM IS STILL AHEAD

Stacey and I dream of building a no-kill animal rescue sanctuary right here in Montgomery County, Texas.

A place where abandoned, neglected, and unwanted animals can find safety.

A place where animals receive the medical attention, food, love, and patience they deserve.

A place where a dog like Hank can get a second chance.

We know it's an enormous dream. We know it won't happen overnight.

But then again, there was a time when all of this was just a little black puppy, a desperate prayer, and a promise.

And look how far that promise has brought us.
